News Update on 2005-11-30

November 30, 2005

Nice and quick before I head off to bed, three sites have updated: Abandonia, DOSgames Online and Noodan Free Games. Go! Visit them! Devour their bandwidth like the hungry little trolls that you are!

And now that I've rested (barely), I'll comment on the Christmas games rush. Or what should have been the Christmas games rush, because this year I'm not seeing much worth getting. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and City of Villains came out earlier and I already have them. Mario Kart DS and Sonic Rush are out and I've pretty much finished them both (holy crap Sonic is difficult!). Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been pushed back to next year. Kirby's Power Paintbrush is new, but it's been out in Japan/USA for months and doesn't really excite me. About the only game I'm mildly interested in this year that I don't have yet is Mario Smash Football and, to be honest, it looks a little bit rubbish.

But looking to the future... oh yes... Neverwinter Nights 2 looks as close to fantastic as I could have expected. World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is practically a required purchase. The new Zelda game will finally be here. Nintendo's new console, Revolution, is set to be properly revealed in May along with, hopefully, an online version of Super Smash Bros.

This Christmas might be a bit disappointing. But next year looks pretty good from where I'm sitting.
