News Update on 2010-12-11

December 11, 2010

Ho, ho, ho children! Have you been nice this year? If so, there are plenty of updates and especially in these Christmas times. Here's the breakdown:

Abandoned Gamesroom packs a healthy update with one big glorious update. More spesifically everything of the Quest For Glory series! Now that's nice!

Abandonia added WarWizard. It is a top-down fantasy role-playing game by Microgenesis, a little reminiscent of the Ultima series, but with its very own, unique mood similar to that of early Amiga RPGs

Best of Games keeps updating with wallpapers. This time it's Final Fantasy 9, Portal and Pac-man wallpapers. That's nice, but where are the games? ^^

DJ Oldgames added Incubation. You know, one of the more different games in the Battle Isle series.
The people over at Free DOS Games is in a shooting mood and added Duke Nukem 3D. It think that game needs no introduction.

GamesWin added three games: Tennis Cup, a tennis game, Plunder & Pillage a FPS where you control a pirate and Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller which is a game where humans have discovered hell and demons that can travel between dimensions. Scary.
My Abandonware takes us to "Mother Russia!" so to speak, in the game Soviet. An action and strategy game much in the same sense as battle isle and dune 2.

We at The DOS Spirit are continuing our Christmas Calendar. Plenty of titles added: Day 4 was Bubble Ghost, Day 5: Worms Reinforcements, Day 6: Hoyle Book of Games Vol. 1, Day 7: Battle Chess, Day 8: X-Com Apocalypse, Day 9: Jazz the Jackrabbit 2: Holiday Hare '98, Day 10: Where in Time is Carmen San Diego?, Day 11: Doofus

The Good Old Days added a review interview thingie of The Feeble Files, a humorous adventure game where you control a very average alien being. As the review states: "It's his job to create crop circles to scare the people on class B planets (one of them being our earth) out of their wit. Basically, however, he's a very harmless bluecollar worker."

Finally, The House of Games and Erde Kaiser keeps adding titles available on several systems, which is always nice. This time it is SSI's first title in the RPG genre, namely Questron from 1984. As Erde himself says: "it looks and plays a lot like Ultima from Origin. You were born a lowly peasant in a land that is under attack from hordes of monsters and even the king's armies are unable to defeat them all"

Allrighty o! That's that for this update. Stay tuned as we close in to Christmas as there will be plenty of more goodies around. Until next time, stay retro!

Your all time favorite,
