News Update on 2007-12-29

December 29, 2007

The primary goal of DOS Museum is to encourage authors to continue to support their older software, either by continuing to sell it, or by releasing it as freeware.

I haven't been doing public notifications at DOS Museum when I am able to get a game "released." So here is my list so far: Stone Mist 2, Dragon's Shard, Lords of Doom, and WURM. All of these titles have been recently released (liberated some would say) as freeware by their authors and can now be (legally) shared.

The only author who has a "new" modified archive stating the game is freeware is WURM. For the other titles if you would like documentation supporting their legal change before you add the games to your website, drop me an e-mail, and I can provide my original e-mail communication.

I'm in discussion now with two authors about the possibility of moving their games into "freeware status" as well. I'm really excited about these titles because they were released by small developers/publishers and not just individuals. I should have another update if those go through within a week or two.
